Here's some news I was quite happy to hear: According to SPIN, Norwegian songstress Ida Maria, one of Rarities favourite female singer-songwriters, is set to return to the music world with the release of her sophomore studio album, Katla.
Although we haven't heard much from Ida Maria in the last couple of years (the savvy lady took some time off from her musical duties after being diagnosed with severe exhaustion), her music has been popping up all over the place the last few months. Well, at least in my world anyway (I am quite behind on my TV show marathons!). Her gorgeous and sulty track song 'Keep Me Warm', from her debut album Fortress 'Round My Heart, was featured in both the finale for Season 3 of Skins and the Season 4 finale of Grey's Anatomy, 'Oh My God', from the same album, was featured in the trailer for the film It's Kind of a Funny Story, and 'Bad Karma' from her forthcoming release was recently featured in this year's Scream 4.
Thankfully, on June 7th Ida Maria returns to our airwaves with Katla and the album's first official single, 'Cherry Red'. The album, which was released in the singer's native Norway in November 2010, was recorded in Santa Monica with Butch Walker, who has worked with everyone from Weezer and Pete Yorn to Katy Perry.
You can listen to Ida Maria's track 'Bad Karma' on her official Facebook page here and download the forthcoming single 'Cherry Red' for free from SPIN here.
