New Single from David Hope & The Henchmen

David Hope is a singer-songwriter hailing from County Clare who in his musical career has released two critically acclaimed records; his debut album, A Picture, in 2007 and the 7-track EP Daybreak Someplace in 2009.

A strong vocalist and performer, David Hope has in the last two years performed with a variety of shows across Europe. Some of which include numerous appearances at festivals in Switzerland, Germany and Sweden encompassing tours with The Duke Spirit, Belgian singer Sophie Hunger, highly respected Swiss musician Baum, and US singer / songwriter Beth Hart. He has also toured in Ireland with folk/blues chanteuse Mary Coughlan, Andrea Samborski, Barnaby Bright and played support to the likes of Mary Black, Mundy, Jack L, John Shelly & The Creatures, Mick Flannery and John Spillane.

In the summer of 2009, David joined forces with Eoin Jordan, David Murphy and Donal Heavey, to form David Hope & The Henchmen. The band are fast making a name for themselves and have played a number of festivals including the Winter Music Festival, Kilkenny Rhythm & Roots Festival 2010, the fourth Westport Folk & Bluegrass Festival and the Cork Folk Festival 2010.

David Hope & The Henchmen has just emerged from the studio with their first single with the highly respected musician and producer, Declan Sinnott, which you can check out below.
'Hell or High Water' is a really pleasant track with a beautiful arrangement and some great husky vocals by David. The Henchmen's sound, made up of bouzouki, mandolin, dobro and banjo as well as guitars and percussion, is evidence of some great musicianship that has its roots in folk and Americana, with undercurrents of Bluegrass thrown in for good measure. A great first offering from a band that have plenty to offer musically.

David Hope & The Henchmen's forthcoming debut album is expected by the end of this year. Definitely an Irish release to look forward to, no?
