I love those times when you randomly stumble across something for the first time that completely blows you away. This happened me tonight when I found the below video on YouTube while browsing music.
I know what you're thinking; another bloody version of 'Hallelujah'. But this one's a little bit special, and I really can't believe it slipped under my radar. On January 10th 2010, Damien Rice and Natalie Merchant joined Glen Hansard on stage in Whelan's during Glen's charity gig for Haiti to perform this gorgeous little version of Leonard Cohen's legendary song, 'Hallelujah'.
Not only does this performance feature two of Ireland's best and most talented singer-songwriters, it also features one of my favourite female singer-songwriters of all time. And although it's been covered to death, 'Hallelujah' remains one of my favourite songs ever (Jeff Buckley's version trumps the rest, for me).
The sound isn't perfect, but still a lovely treat nonetheless:
